Henry Rollins

Henry Rollins came to Montpelier this past Friday, and thanks to my man Jerry and the Three Penny Taproom, I was able to catch the show.

Holy shit. The dude can talk.

For those of you who have never seen a spoken word performance by Henry Rollins, it is basically 2+ hours of him talking about politics, the human condition, history, and the state of his/our world. Not stopping. Not drinking. Not drinking ANYTHING. There was no water, no Nestea. There was nothing on stage but a microphone. He did not so much as bend down to scratch his knee.

Aside from the feat of berating the crowd with over 30,000 words from 8:00 PM to 10:17 PM, what he said was fantastic. He holds himself very well and describes his position without offending anyone.  He is speaking of the most simple human interests with global concern and encyclopedic knowledge.

This is the Winter of Punk Rock and Learning. I'm calling it. Here are some videos to help kick off the season. Henry as a younger man, and him in spades today.
